PetSafe Large Electronic Pet Door

Give your pet the freedom to come and go without leaving a standard pet flap unlocked. The PetSafe Electronic Door detects the SmartKey worn on your pet’s collar and unlocks the flap, helping limit access by unfamiliar animals.

How the PetSafe Electronic Door works
A collar key controls the lock, so your pet can use the door without you opening it each time.
Attach the SmartKey
Fit the SmartKey to your pet’s collar using the included key ring. Its unique radio signal identifies it to the door.
The flap unlocks
In Automatic mode, the door detects a programmed key nearby and releases the lock. Your pet then pushes through the flap.
It locks again afterwards
Once the key is no longer detected and the flap has returned to position, the door automatically locks again.
Choose the access that suits your day
Switch between three modes using the controls on the door.
Automatic
The flap unlocks for pets wearing a programmed SmartKey, allowing them to enter and exit.
Fully locked
The flap stays locked in both directions, including when a programmed SmartKey is nearby.
Fully unlocked
Pets can push through in either direction without a key. Useful while introducing your pet to the flap.
Made for everyday pet access
Share one door
Program up to five compatible SmartKeys to the same door. Each pet needing automatic access wears its own key.
No power point needed
Four D-cell batteries power the door, keeping the installation free from trailing power cables. A low-battery indicator helps you stay on top of replacements.
Adjustable detection
Fine-tune the sensitivity to suit the installation. Test key detection before cutting your door, then follow the guide to adjust it after fitting.
Check your pet’s fit first
The Large Electronic Door is suitable for pets up to approximately 45 kg, provided they can comfortably pass through the opening.
Width × height
Weight alone does not determine fit. Check your pet’s body width, allow comfortable clearance and follow the guide when choosing the installation height.
Plan the installation
- Designed for compatible timber, PVC and metal doors approximately 38-51 mm thick.
- Wall installations require a compatible SmartDoor Wall Conversion Kit, sold separately.
- Not suitable for glass or sliding-door installations.
- Use the supplied cutting template and test operation at the intended location before cutting.

Frequently asked questions
Does this door read my pet’s microchip?
No. This model uses a battery-powered SmartKey attached to your pet’s collar. It does not read an implanted microchip.
Does the flap open by itself?
The electronics unlock the flap; your pet pushes it open. Allow time for your pet to learn to approach, wait for the lock to release and walk through calmly.
Can I give different pets different entry and exit settings?
This model offers Automatic, fully locked and fully unlocked modes. In Automatic mode, a programmed key allows travel in both directions. It does not provide separate one-way permissions or individual pet schedules.
Will it stop every unwanted animal getting inside?
Automatic mode helps restrict access because an unprogrammed animal cannot activate the lock. Another animal may still follow while the flap is unlocked, so it is not a guaranteed barrier between pets.
Can I install it through a wall?
Yes, with a compatible Large SmartDoor Wall Conversion Kit and any extensions needed for the wall depth. These are sold separately. Contact Ready Pet Go to confirm the right parts before installation.
